I was fortunate to be present at Aquagic, Bengaluru, on January 11, 2026, to witness an incredible Live Aquascaping Workshop by Adip Sajjan Raj—a marathon 2.5 hours of pure focus, creativity, and aquascaping mastery. In this special session, Adip involved the audience from the start, building an evolving aquascape live, step by step, while explaining every decision along the way. The concept for the day was a classic “Iwagumi” layout, inspired by the vision of Takashi Amano—Adip’s Sensei and the pioneer of the Nature Aquarium style. The highlight of this scape was the stunning Unzan Stone, chosen not only for its unique character and dramatic texture, but also for its light-weight nature—an important factor since this ADA 90P (90cm x 45cm x 45cm) aquarium had to be shifted as-is after the workshop to the Still Water Aquatics Gallery, Bengaluru. As the scape came alive, Adip also broke down what truly goes into building a balanced aquarium, covering everything from: ✅ beneficial bacteria ✅ substrate layering ✅ filtration and flow ✅ lighting ✅ CO₂ and plant health ✅ and the importance of using the right materials at the right stage The audience had a lot of questions, and Adip patiently answered each one—making this not just a workshop, but a true masterclass for every aquascaping enthusiast.
